Jets vs Chiefs Sunday 4:30est
MikeGangGree... Icon : (16 September 2016 - 10:09 AM) good
MikeGangGree... Icon : (16 September 2016 - 10:09 AM) Best day of the week is the day after a Jets Win!
Jetsfan115 Icon : (16 September 2016 - 10:12 AM) Rob you think the offense started off ugly? we scored on our first 4 drives, and controlled the ball 80% of the time the first half. We didn't even punt until the 2nd half
ROBJETS Icon : (16 September 2016 - 10:21 AM) I meant the hits on Fitz at on the first Drive or two with the fumbles and almost fumbles....The Tom Brady rule where balls that used to be fumbles are incomplete. We recovered the ball on all but one but it was ruled incomplete
ROBJETS Icon : (16 September 2016 - 10:26 AM) The offensive line stepped off after Hughes got hurt for however long he was out. I don't blame J. Marsh for that fumble because that was just a hell of a play. Imo Fitz had a career best game even with only 1 td passing. Never seen him so accurate. So yeah when I meant ugly I meant dline penetration and the 1st two drives ending up in fieldgoals
ROBJETS Icon : (16 September 2016 - 10:30 AM) But 31 points given up passing by the defense passing was bad. It wasn't just 2 long bombs and that defensive touchdown leading to 21 points. 3q1 against a bad team was terrible for the defense. Without the offense putting up 37 the Jets, would have lost so yeah I consider it an ugly start on both ends
ROBJETS Icon : (16 September 2016 - 10:32 AM) I'm glad like everyone else that the Jets won. Especially with getting with by the Bills multiple times it was nice revenge.
ROBJETS Icon : (16 September 2016 - 10:34 AM) Just saying that the Bills look like a bad team this year and the Jets have to face a lot of teams that are probably playoff bound again so yes there is a lot of concern
Jetsfan115 Icon : (16 September 2016 - 11:39 AM) fitz look good and lets not forget the 50+ yarder to decker that was called back on a BS holding penalty. plus if you rewatch it, the jets d-line was getting held like crazy and never got calls. I seen McLendon, williams, and wilk all complaining about it
azjetfan Icon : (16 September 2016 - 12:32 PM) I think the game plan for the D was to keep Taylor in the pocker
azjetfan Icon : (16 September 2016 - 12:33 PM) They didn't want him running around when they only rushed 3-4 guts
Jetsfan115 Icon : (16 September 2016 - 12:37 PM) bills fired their OC today after the loss yesterday lol
Jetsfan115 Icon : (16 September 2016 - 12:38 PM) yeah we didn't really rush, we just tried to keep contain on the outside and collapse the middle
Jetsfan115 Icon : (16 September 2016 - 12:38 PM) on the salas TD, one of our LBers went for the sack and broke contain and pryor got away and made the play
Jetsfan115 Icon : (16 September 2016 - 12:39 PM) when we did rush which was rare, we had a spy
ROBJETS Icon : (16 September 2016 - 11:11 PM) As far as the Bills firing the oc I'm not sure I agree with it with Watkins having major foot problem with a steel rod in his surgically repaired foot but I dont follow the Bills so cant really say. I do think they need to get rid of Rob Ryan though. He had a decent year with the Browns then was terrible with the Cowboys and Saints. He isn't half the DC that Rex is. I still think Rex can be a good head coach withe the right coaches and roster but Rob Ryan isn't the answer. But if Rex wants to ruin his chance of staying a head coach by keeping his brother on the coaching staff like he ruined his head coaching job keeping Sanchez as a starter then that's his stupidity
ganggreen2003 Icon : (17 September 2016 - 12:20 AM) The A Football Life of Curtis Martin is a MUST WATCH!!!!
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (17 September 2016 - 02:03 PM) They got rid of their OC after their defense was ripped apart
ROBJETS Icon : (17 September 2016 - 05:03 PM) Well hell that makes even less sense. The defense gets ripped apart so let's get rid of the oc instead of the dc.they didn't have much of a run game but a lot of passes yards. If they wanted to blame anyone for nearly 40 points against them it was their defense. But guess Rex used the ocean as the scale goat instead of his brother
ROBJETS Icon : (17 September 2016 - 05:04 PM) Oc not ocean. Damn Auto correct on phone
ROBJETS Icon : (17 September 2016 - 05:04 PM) And scape goatee
ROBJETS Icon : (17 September 2016 - 05:05 PM) Lol still can't get it right
ROBJETS Icon : (17 September 2016 - 05:13 PM) Not sure about anyone else but I'm extremely interested in the 49r/ Panther game at 1pm. Just want to see if the 49rs are actually good this year or if the Rams have become one of the worst teams in the league this year
ROBJETS Icon : (17 September 2016 - 05:16 PM) If the Rams have regressed that much then all the Todd Gurley owners in fantasy will likely have low points from him all year. Might even be worth trying to trade him early if they look just as bad this week before his stock drops
ROBJETS Icon : (17 September 2016 - 05:26 PM) I drafted him last year and also had David Johnson, Chris Johnson, Roetlesburger, Romo, Palmer, Barnage,, .....my whole team was stacked with starters. Entire team wasc stacked with starters. Even bench. Made tge Superbowl but did have a rough start at behinning of season when Romo and Roethlisberger wentvdown at the start of season also lost amazing starting rb and wr all within the 1st 4 games but worked the waivers really well..shut out until garbage time by a team that was terrible last year
ROBJETS Icon : (17 September 2016 - 05:28 PM) Last part meant Rams were shut out entire game even in garbage time against 49r backups
ROBJETS Icon : (17 September 2016 - 05:29 PM) Sorry about typos. Hard to type on small phone screen
MikeGangGree... Icon : (17 September 2016 - 06:00 PM) This is why I'm glad Rex is gone. Fire the OC after the D gives up 500 yards??
MikeGangGree... Icon : (17 September 2016 - 06:01 PM) UPDATE THE UPDATE!!!!
ROBJETS Icon : (17 September 2016 - 06:25 PM) Yep Rex isn't a bad coach but he needs to have all player and coach decisions as far as firing and hiring taken out of his hands. His problem is he doesn't know to separate the job from loyalty to players and is unable to let underperforming players go
ROBJETS Icon : (17 September 2016 - 06:27 PM) He was great as a DC because he wasn't in charge of roster and firing decisions. He will never make it as a good head coach until he can get rid of loyalty and run a team like any boss runs a business.
azjetfan Icon : (17 September 2016 - 07:16 PM) I loved Rex as a person. But he is severely handicapped in his skill set as a HC. He has not adapted and will not adapt. That's why he isn't here and will be fired from Buffalo.
ROBJETS Icon : (18 September 2016 - 11:05 AM) It's all guessing and I will like likely stick with my two starters that are injured and playing but D.Thomas looks like he is still in a lot of pain and Stewart is still in the locker room getting ankle treatment so both could be on a snap count
ROBJETS Icon : (18 September 2016 - 11:06 AM) I have good wr's on bench and good rb's on bench but they have bad matchups. Do t trust Diggs against Greenbay or Doug Martin against Arizona both on bench
ROBJETS Icon : (18 September 2016 - 11:08 AM) If I made changes I have Crabtree for Oakland Aagainst Atlanta and Abdullah for Detroit against 49rs as my two options I would choose if I made any changes
ROBJETS Icon : (18 September 2016 - 11:10 AM) Actually have it backwards with my running back teams
ROBJETS Icon : (18 September 2016 - 11:12 AM) Detroit vs Titans who I believe has a legit defense. Panthers have a better team but the ankle for Stewart and both the Titans and 49rs are ranked #1 against the run. Not a believer in the 49rs defensesthough
ROBJETS Icon : (18 September 2016 - 11:13 AM) Believe the Rams oline just sucks
ROBJETS Icon : (18 September 2016 - 11:15 AM) Abdullah splits carries but he did get 17 last week and also catches a lot of passes and has a better qb so could exploit the Titans still
ROBJETS Icon : (18 September 2016 - 11:16 AM) Will most likely do my own thing anyway just looking for input from those that actually study in fantasy if anyone feels like offering their opinions. If not it's cool too. Thanks
ROBJETS Icon : (18 September 2016 - 11:18 AM) If not for the injuries to the two players I'd keep them in for sure but all it takes for Thomas is a hit to the hip and a tackle by the ankle for Stewart if they aren't on a snap count already or if pain doesn't get to them.
ROBJETS Icon : (18 September 2016 - 12:45 PM) Well looks like leaving in Stewart was,a,bad move in locker room
MikeGangGree... Icon : (18 September 2016 - 04:54 PM) Good news! Dolphins suck
santana Icon : (19 September 2016 - 08:08 AM) Thanks professor
Jetsfan115 Icon : (23 September 2016 - 03:55 PM) updated roster. FB howsare released, TE bowman added to roster

Look i know I've been hard on him in the past mostly from him trading away revis and then drafting another CB. and i know he struck gold on richardson. But this offseason has been a farce. I mean how is he improving this team in any way? Lets take a look at some of the reasons i'm getting sick of him

1) cuts holmes and cromartie, 2 players that were willing to take pay cuts to stay, 2 players that are in positions where we need talent. But somehow sanchez is still on the roster for 10+ million when he isn't even going to start?????

2) He signs decker for over 7 million a year? a guy who isn't even a number 1 WR and never has been yet for 7 million a year? Look I like decker, he's a good WR, he's tough, he's not a diva and as long as he's in a jet uniform i'll root my ass off for him. But 7 million when maclin singed a 1 year deal for 4 million? he couldn't have grabbed the younger and better maclin on a 1 year deal for 5-6 million? instead decker gets #1 WR money? plus a 5 year deal and he's 27? 3 years into the deal he's gonna be declining.

3) had a chance to look like a mastermind, instead winds up looking like a failure. He trades revis last year and gets some picks. yes i was pissed. but fate took a twisted turn when revis was released yesterday by the bucs. he was his chance to bring back the best CB in the NFL and basically come out with a 1st and 4th round pick for lending him to the bucs for a year. We know revis loves rex (not as much as he loves money) and we have 50 million in cap room. And he traded him to the bucs to keeep him out of the AFC. well a year later he winds up on fucking new england? our biggest rival? who's kicked out ass repeatedly for the past 10 years? for a 1 year 12 million dollar deal? how could we not offer an extra 500k to him?

4) o-line has been an issue for the past 2 years. We found a decent RT finally in howard. what does idzik do? let him walk of course. Now i know the raider in typical raider fashion overpaid for him, but his replacement....was the worst RT in all of football last year. Thats how he graded out. oh and he led the NFL in holding penalties. We still have issues at guard.

5) vowed to support geno and give him better targets, failed. he downgraded the o-line, let our best WR go, had a chance to grab maclin, nicks, sanders etc. instead gets decker for way too much. Has a chance to get sproles, nope goes to the eagles.

I have to wonder, what the FO sees in idzik. this guy is an idiot letting all the other teams score big and eh's sitting on extra cap money like he gets a bonus for not spending

Could it possibly have been that he didn't want to overpay once again for a player he would know would want more money next year or the year after? Maybe Woody said no to Revis considering it's his wallet that Revis would be reaching into?

Cro was about a 13 million cap number. Not happening. Holmes everyone knew was gone so I dont know where the complaint comes from. We weren't going to compete with the Raiders for Howard with money and everyone knows it. 2 days into FA and you act like we're doomed simply because the Pats get a 1 yr rental with Revis?

Yes.....overpaid for Decker but he's an upgrade over any receiver we had including Holmes.

I don't really get how people are saying Decker is overpaid. I think the deal is fine as is and there's still an abundance of cap space to make more moves.

1) Where did you read about Holmes or Cro willing to take paycuts? Cutting Holmes and Cro led to the cap space you're ranting about in your later points. Cutting Sanchez makes no sense. Sign a backup and then cut him. A QB desperate team will grab Sanchez and the Jets will go into the draft with Geno, Simms, and "Coach" Garrard. Sanchez makes good football sense at this point.

2) Maclin never hit FA. Maclin signed that year because he is coming off an injury not a career year. As for the Decker contract: http://overthecap.co...php?Position=WR $15M guarantee is the going price for a solid WR.

3) Why would they bring back Revis after they traded him to due to contract issues? You think those issues and feelings will go away after 1 year? Jets have 37M in salary cap room and that's not factor out the 10M or so teams need for the draft. No one has a crystal ball as to Revis's future. Was he suppose to know that the Bucs would cut him after giving up a 1st for him the year before. Jets got Richardson for a Revis that wanted too much money. I'll take it over Revis walking to NE for nothing.

4) Giacomini is rated as well as or even better than Howard. It's day 2 in FA and G was going to be an issue whether Howard re-signed or not. FA doesn't end in 24 hours.

5)
  • Downgraded the line? How?
  • Jets best WR? That's BS and you know it. This team had ZERO talent at WR last year. Cutting Holmes lose for cap space is addition by subtraction. Nicks and Sanders are still FA. He can still sign them if he seems them as additions and good value pick ups.

cro was willing to take a cut. he wanted to stay. could have had him for like 6 mil a year. same with holmes but maybe even less. I understand revis is a dick, we all know this. but the fact he lands on NE just makes the situation a huge joke. and its a bi black mark on idzik. had he landed on another NFC team it wouldn't be that bad, but he lets him stroll off to NE, which was the 1 team he wanted to keep him away from. Also i don't see how decker is an upgrade? holmes was a number 1 WR his career in pitt when we landed him. he was number 1 here. decker has had the benefit of manning at QB, thomas as a number 1, welker in the slot, and julian thomas at TE. nobody paid attention to him with thomas, thomas and welker on the field and peyton can throw WRs open in a way very few QBs can. geno sure as hell can't do it yet. decker won't even get 800 yards in our offense as a number 1. Also he signed the worst RT in the NFL to replace howard, and ignored the guard position. Lets not forget goodson who was a complete waste ofr 4 million and winslow i jack off at target , being injured most of the year

It's ignorance. The Jets gave Holmes 5 years $45 mil, who never had the production that Decker has had. Decker was on pace for 1,100 12 TDs with Orton throwing him the ball, it was with Tebow that he disappeared because he sucks.

The cap will be rising every year, paying a good WR $7.2 mil per year is not overpaying. He'll be our #1 WR next season, we needed to make a upgrade at the position, why are people complaining>?

People thought Pierre Garcon was made by Manning as well, has his best years without Manning.

FYI, the reason why Cro was cut before Sanchez was because his roster bonus was coming up. It was a no brainer to release him, his cap hit was way too large. He has like no interest on the open market, why is that? Because hes going to be 30 and he was awful last season and has a bad hip.

Holmes was released because hes a cancer and the jets wanted to get rid of him since 2011 and finally could.

Sanchez hasn't been released yet because they don't have to yet, Idzik will do it when he has to. Teams release players earlier when they have to get under the cap or avoid a roster bonus. The Jets are way under the cap and they don't have to cut Sanchez until another week.

LOL @ calling Breno the worst OT in the league. Guy was good enough to start for the SB champs.

Im good with what we doin so far. Not HUGE in either way. We KNEW Holmes was out, no matter how much talent you think he has, you have to be able to be ON THE FIELD for it to be worth ANYTHING. Cro kinda hurt my feelings because he DID say he was willing to stay for less. Maybe they will go resign him...would be cool. Howard, CHASED THE $$$ & I can understand him doin it. Decker is a little more than a WR, does SOME returns. No injury issues in his past like Nicks either. Saving money, I think they know Sanchez is wanted by others & will wait till the last hour to cut him to try n get something done before they do.

Yes. Cro was willing to take a cut but his roster bonus was due so he needed to be cut when he was. He can still be resigned. Holmes isn't even worth bringing back because he hasnt done a damn thing for us other than showboat with his little football drop every time he manages to finally bring in a ball. Everyone says Holmes was a #1 but his numbers are far from a #1 even when he was in Pitt. He made one decent catch in a Superbowl and he's suddenly a #1. He averaged 1 TD in every other game and between 3-4 catches per game when he was with Pitt and even less with us. That's not near #1 worthy to me. You talk about Decker not getting 800 yards as if Holmes ever reached that number with us. He didn't. Decker put up Holmes type numbers with Teblow at QB. I wont even say anything about his stats the last 2 yrs considering it was Manning behind Center but it's clear Decker is a big upgrade over anyone we've had in years.

As for Revis.......who cares that he went to N.E.? Big deal. They just ate a bunch of cap space for him and stay weak over the middle as they have been. Basically no change. He's got a lot to prove and that's why he's only getting 1 year rentals. He's FAR from being a HOF lock worthy of getting into a bidding war for. Apparently Idzik did make an attempt to bring him back since he claimed he loved Rex and loved being a Jet. Just not enough to let go of a few bucks. Bellichump is a "jerk" in 2012, but he's "coach" now. Funny how money talks isn't it?

Howard, RT & G positions......what did you expect through 2 days of FA? Big signings and making a splash simply because we have some cap room? That would be dumb as hell and you know it. Idzik builds through the draft as it should be done rather than signing a bunch of FA's only to bring cap trouble. Did it hurt losing Howard? Yes, but we weren't going to be able to beat the Raiders with $$ offered for him.

Just for a bit of emphasis.

FYI i said he graded out (via PFF) as the worst. he also did have the most holding penalties (which is a fact that can't be disputed)

Some of you guys are walking contradictions. On one hand you agree with players like Cromartie and Holmes getting cut because that's just the business side of the game and the Jets organization has every right to get rid of older, slower, injured players facing the end of their careers. Because they've lost their value to the organization. But when players like Howard or Revis sign with other teams who are willing to pay them more money, then those players are "greedy" or "money hungry" or "only care about themselves." Pro football players unlike pro baseball, basketball, and hockey players have the shortest amount of time to make their livings as pro athletes. They know (like Cromartie knows all to well now) they have the shortest window in pro sports to make big money. But we fans get upset when players go after the big money if that means them going to another team. That's why when NFL players hold out or bolt to another team in free agency, it doesn't really bother me. Because I know once they outlive their usefulness to which ever team they play for, that team's front office are going to send them packing the first chance they get. The owners and G.M.'s can work well past the age of 30 in their roles. But as we all know the players after the age of 30 are in the twilight of their careers (especially RBs).

So what I'm saying is if you're cool with a franchise getting rid of a player so that they can get a younger player and pay that new player less than what they were paying the old player. You shouldn't complain then when a player tries to make as much money as they can, WHILE they can by going to another team. Because they know they'll never have another opportunity in their lives to make this amount money after they are deemed expendable by their front office (just like Cro amd Holmes just were). If the owners are looking out for their best interest, don't get upset when the players also look out for their best interest. I know most NFL fans know this but we easily forget it once free agent season hits.

There are a few things I have realized about Mr. Jet over a few topics.

1) He is a racist. By constantly using race as a battling tool.
2) He is an extreme Liberal. If you are on either extreme you are probabaly more wrong than right.
3) He is one of those people who will never admit fault, error or defeat.
4)His life sucks and he takes it out on people who don't share in his views.

Why do people still respond to this guy? You're only adding fuel to the fire.

I stopped reading when he admitted he didn't understand the concept of roster bonus/guarantee dates.

That's funny......I didn't see a single post from anyone bashing Howard for going to Oakland. Please show me where there was one. We've just said that we couldn't afford to get into a bidding war for his services. As for Cro & Holmes.......Cro earned his pay for the most part while he was here and if he doesn't sign with Arizona could end up coming back at a reduced number. Holmes never really did much to earn his money and everyone and their mother knew he'd be cut.

The comments about Howard were said the other day in the shoutbox not on the board. So if you want try search the shoutbox for those comments, knock yourself out. But it's no surprise that you totally missed the point about what I was saying about players like Cromartie and Holmes. The point wasn't SHOULD they have been cut. The point was some people are perfectly fine with a player (any player) being cut because it makes "cap space" for their favorite team. They don't bat an eyelash when that happens, or when a team does shit like place the franchise player tag on a kicker. Which totally goes against the original intent of having a franchise player tag. But then bitch and moan when a player goes to another team to make a much money as they can because it's good for them and their families. It's all good to just get rid of a player if it means it save's my favorite team money so they can get a brand new player. But when a player on my favorite leaves to make more money elsewhere, oh now he's just being greedy and money hungry. Players in the prime of their earning potential are expected to show loyalty and give a "hometown discount" to the franchise. But when the franchise doesn't show loyalty to a player because his skills are diminishing, that's just business side of the game.

Let me take a crack at this nonesense...

1) cuts holmes and cromartie, 2 players that were willing to take pay cuts to stay, 2 players that are in positions where we need talent. But somehow sanchez is still on the roster for 10+ million when he isn't even going to start?????

Holmes is done. His play fell off and his attitude was a drain on the team. Cromartie was a liability and was grossly overpaid. He didn't say anything about a restructure. He hit the market and looks like he's a Cardinal.

There's no reason to cut Sanchez for another week. His bonuses don't come due until the 20th. In the mean time, the Jets don't want him to hit the market while Vick and other back ups are out there. They don't want him in the market right now, they want him to miss the FA spending spree and then possibly bring him back on a small 1 or 2 year deal.

First off, Maclin never hit the market. Philly resigned him before FA began. Forget Maclin, he wasn't an option. Decker was the consesus #1 WR in this market. Yes his stats are inflated. No he's not a No. 1. But, he signed a very reasonable contract. Don't look at the overall numbers because those are bullshit, look at the guaranteed... and that's only $15M. That is a very team friendly deal and 3 years from now, I guarantee you that he will not be on the team for $7M/year unless he becomes a #1.

And he traded him to the bucs to keeep him out of the AFC. well a year later he winds up on f***ing new england? our biggest rival? who's kicked out ass repeatedly for the past 10 years? for a 1 year 12 million dollar deal? how could we not offer an extra 500k to him?

Revis declined a contract from Denver for $11.5M. That just goes to show you either of two things, either Revis, a guy who earned about $40M thus far in his career threw away a chance to join the clear cut SB favorite for $500K OR he never intended to sign with anyone other than NE. Either case, the fact is, the Jets never even reached out to him. This is obviously a decision that was handed down from Woody and you can't blame Idzik for that. For all we knew, Woody's criteria for hiring Idzik was to rid the team of Revis, so there's no shot they would have brought him back.

I don't know where you're getting your shit from, but I found their comparable rankings on PFF:

5) vowed to support geno and give him better targets, failed. he downgraded the o-line, let our best WR go, had a chance to grab maclin, nicks, sanders etc. instead gets decker for way too much. Has a chance to get sproles, nope goes to the eagles.

OL is not downgraded. Had no chance at Maclin. Nicks and Sanders are still unemployed. Decker's contract is less than what everyone was expecting (because he probably wanted to be in NYC for his reality show that he didn't mind taking a NFL discount to make VH1 money).
