HOUSTON -- Andre Johnson, who holds virtually every receiving record for the Houston Texans, isn't sure he wants to remain with the organization.

"When you've been somewhere or a long time, nobody's been here as long as I have," Johnson said after presenting a check to the Houston Area Women's Center on Tuesday. "I've been thinking about things this offseason. Kind of wonder if this is still the place for me."

Johnson said he has no plans right now to participate in organized team activities or the Texans' mandatory minicamp in June. He added that he has not asked for a trade.

Johnson, selected by the Texans in the first round of the 2003 draft, is the franchise's all-time leading receiver with 927 receptions for 12,661 yards and 61 touchdowns in 11 seasons.

Despite catching 109 passes for 1,407 yards and five TDs last season, Johnson still endured his share of frustration in the Texans' abysmal 2-14 campaign. Against the Oakland Raiders on Nov. 17, Johnson reached a boiling point, walking off the field in the fourth quarter after an on-field spat with now former Texans quarterback Matt Schaub.

Johnson, 32, will have a new coach this season after the Texans fired Gary Kubiak in December and hired Bill O'Brien in January.

"Now I'm on my third head coach, that's something I give thought to," Johnson said. "I just look over my career, is it a place? I've only been to the playoffs twice. I think we've only had three winning seasons, two 8-8 seasons. I don't think any player wants to experience that.

"... You go through a rebuilding process, some people say it's not rebuilding, some people say it's a quick fix. Everybody has their own opinion. But I've been through this more than once. When I make my decision, I'll make my decision."

Would you guys be up for trading a pick or two for him? I don't know if he would be interested in the Jets but if Vick is the starting QB, it's worth a look. Doesn't seem like an Idzik move though. Johnson is 32 going to 33 by the time the season starts with a big cap hit.

No I don't want him. He wants big money. This will be his 14th year and it's not worth taking a chance giving big money to an old receiver. I've seen it to many times. Great old receivers look good one year then the next year or two have a sudden huge massive decline. Like Jerry Rice.

It's possible it could work out but it's more probable that it will hurt us big time.

The only way I'd be up for this is if he came cheap or or if we didn't have to give up a lot to get him and could sign him to a one year deal with team FO options to pick him up for a 2nd and maybe 3rd year if he puts up good numbers.

Many here may feel different but history has proven that giving big money to old receivers usually works out bad. So unless he is cheap no thank you.

I wanted him bad in the 2003 draft. But thank God we missed him and ended up with Dewayne Robertson. Man what would we have done without the next Warren Sapp.

And to think we gave up 2 1st rounders for him to get D-Rob.

IDK we have a lot of young WRs already. i would hate to cut one that pans out somewhere else to have him for a year or 2. In my roster prediction i have us with 7 WRs if you count ford as well (who i have listed as a KR/PR) and johnson won't play special teams or anything. on the other hand we have a lot of cap room and no proven WR to start opposite of decker so it makes sense that way. I'd have to pass on AJ for now.
Get it done MT

If they do it means they are all in for this year. What does that mean? Could Belli or Tomy be retiring?
