Not gonna happen. Florida wont be stupid enough to give up Willis and Saint Louis wont be stupid enough to give up Pujols. Especially for Rodriguez. He may be a great ball player and his stats are sexy but it is known that he is not a great player in crunch time and this year is a great example.

A-Rod's ALDS On-Base Percentage: .435
A-Rod ALDS Men-Left-On-Base: 6
Gary Sheffield ALDS Men-Left-On-Base: 17
Hideki Matsui ALDS Men-Left-On-Base: 14
Joe Sheehan of Baseball Prospectus makes another great point:
Derek Jeter hit a home run Friday with the Yankees down four runs. He hit one last night with the team down three. The one last night was pointed to, by the game broadcasters as well as the ones on "SportsCenter," as evidence of his "clutchness."
Not for nothing, but why is it if Alex Rodriguez hits a solo homer with the Yankees down by a bunch, it's evidence that he's a stat-padding loser, but when Jeter does it, it's clutch?
It's just another example of the double standard in place for the two players. Neither covered themsleves in glory in the series--the statistical difference between the two is those two Jeter home runs, whose value seems to be entirely in who hit them--yet Jeter comes out as Captain Intangible while Rodriguez, whose back is still a bit sore from carrying the team in the '04 Division Series, for which he got no credit, is the choke artist.

plus...if it wasn't for A-rod, we wouldn't have made it to the playoffs
Who's to say that? Have you noticed that once the Rangers got rid of A-Rod, they immediately got better? Maybe the Yankees would be better off without him.

And not to mention, if game saving great plays counted as game winning RBIs, hed have like 50.......
A lot of small players came up HUGE for us this year, but to say that we would have even made the playoffs without A-Rod is insaine......I mean, how many HRs did he have vs the Sox this year.....including the 2-run homer that coulda been the difference between playoofs and ...no-offs

Now I pray we get Bernie back, put him at DH and rotate him with Crosy (I want Giambi gone) and then sign Soriano, put him in center, where he'd be better off with his speed, and we'd be set. Well, of course do over our starting pitching and coaching staff.
PAVONO, JOHNSON, GIAMBI, AND POSSIBLY A-ROD MUST GO!

I dont think the Yankees will be much of a force anymore as they are all getting old. How can a tream rely on a 40+ year old to be their number 1 pitcher in their rotation?
I see teams such as the Indians, As and Angels coming into dominate the American League - these are good, quite young teams who don't go and throw dollars around at the best free agents, they are teams who have developed a core of solid young players such as Hafner, Martinez and Sabathia in Cleveland.
The bottom line is money doesn't buy success

Solid players rule, not elite players. Just ask any coach from those late 90 team on the Yankees, just solid, peaking or young players automatically, and literally automatically, says we are World Champions.

The Mets will never pass the Yankees in supremacy in New York City. They can win the next 10 World Series' and the Yankees will still be New York's team. By the way, the Mets suck.
