Ok, i went to my school's baseball open gym tonight, their r 2 more, both next week before the baseball season. I have a good arm in my opinion and a good fielder i think, but my main problem is judging the pitch. For some reason, i swing at everything, and then right after i swing sometimes i think 'y did i swing at that' and the main pitch i can't hit is the cutter, and the slider. when i do make contact, its usually a good hit, i almost had 3 home runs tonight, but judging the pitch is just hard for me. can any1 help me to have some more patience in the batters box and HOW TO HIT A CUTTER! links r also appreciated.

my tip would be to watch the pitcher for as many people as he pitches to before you, if your leadoff, watch him warming up. You have to get a sence for his pitch, maybe he does a certin thing in the windup for 1 pitch, theres different things like that to watch. Then once he releaces, you have to decied instantly where you think its heading, and (well, this is what I do) then I start to swing, and if I don't like how its heading, I hold up,m buit If I like it, Its gon.....

That's exactly how to do it, study the pitcher, I know Ted Williams did that alot.

thanks, so thats how those little kids knew every pitch dontrelle was about to throw at spring training when i was down their, their dad asked them before the pitch came 'what kind of pitch is that' and when he was about to throw it, in mid-wind up, they both said 'slider' and they were right.

a little late but another tip is to stand in the box and have someone on the mound, then have someone else stand somewhere in the infield between the mound and plate, but obviously not in the way of the pitches. get in your stance and have the person pitch to u. after every pitch, have the 2nd person say strike or ball. do this long enough and you will really get a feel for whats comin at you and where it is going to end up. now for this you have to get 2 people willing to do this for a while which might be a challenge. also this is only for judging pitches, as for predicting whats coming next lie some people were talkin about, youre on your own
