i just got a copy of photoshop 7 from my friend. i have it installed on my computer but now i am stuck. HOW THE HELL DO I USE IT?!?!?! i dont have time to play around with it because i need it for a project and i cant ask my friend since he is on vacation. all help will be appreciated. thanks.

How do I use it is a very broad question. Its like walking into subway and just saying make me a sandwich. What exactly do u want to do and what is your project. I’ll be gald to help.

First off, how recent is my PhotoShop version? Next I want to be able to create stuff like avatars and the signatures you have. I know it doesn’t sound like its school related but it is. I would like to learn to make the mini videos that you created for my avatar and your signature. I would also like to learn to make crop regular pictures. I would appreciate it if you can help. I don’t care if its school related or not. I’ll help u either way. Its always good to see someone take an interest in furthering your education. I’m not sure exactly how old your vesion is but it doesn’t matter. I downloaded the same version u have like a year ago but haven’t got to use it much. Anyway here some things that I hope clear it up for u. its kinda hard to sum stuff up into a post. Especially a lot of information but I’m good at it.

The “videos� are actually pictures. I’ll explain later on

First your main file types.
You’ll mostly deal with these 3 types

.jpg (jpeg picture. Compressed down so good for e-mailing. Is a smaller file then others)
.bmp (bitmap-basically a regular sized image)
.pdf (photo shop document- saves projects)

Some others that you’ll find helpful

.png (ping file. Comprssion level not as much as jpg. Try using this if the jpg distorts your image a little)

.gif (gif file –graphics interchangeable format. This is the most easily read format. Is used in older model cell phones for pictures as well as the animations you see in the avatars and sigs I made)

You have to realize what your working with.
Is it a single layer picture or multi layer. Only the gif and PDF and handle the multi-layers. PDF is a useless file. Only use it when your saving something your working on. After that save it appropriately.

Back to animations. It’s actually a picture that has several layers. What it is doing is a slide show of the layers. To do that you would have to create a slide show on the same picture just different layers then save as a gif animation file.

Cropping pictures is simple. Just select what you want to keep and select crop layer or image of you can select the crop tool and it will let u adjust what you wanna keep. I hope this gives u a basic idea of what your looking for. If u have nay more questions feel free to ask

Photoshop 7 is about 2002, 2003-04 CS 05- cs2.
