Off Season Moves = 5-11 Season?

It all began with not closing the gap on the AFC East Champion Patriots. The Pats added Thomas, Welker, Morris and Moss amongst others and all 4 of those players made the difference in this game. When the off-season began, we never even made an attempt to get any of those players and settled for who? Kenyon and Jones? Kenyon had a solid game but no pressure on Brady. Jones had 42 yards that Danny Ware could have had with how our O- Line was blocking. Jones will prove to be a major upgrade but not where we need it most and that’s on Defense.

Knowing we were sticking with this 3-4 defense, they should have upgraded and that would start with trading D-Rob and Vilma. D-Rob had 4 tackles and Vilma in mid season form with a big 2 tackles. Both players are good 4-3 players that would have brought us 1st round picks this year but another season playing in this defense their value will only go down.

On the O-line, losing Kendall will hurt but he put us in an impossible position and had to be traded. D’Brick on the other hand is starting to scare the hell out of me. He made no apparent attempt to add weight in the off-season and he’s beginning to look like a slow footed, weak wasted draft pick.

Am I over-reacting? Not at all, just being real. I went into this game expecting a loss based on the pre-season, our O-Line mess and the Pats upgrades in the off-season. Any chance we had to keep it close was gone when Mangini elected to punt on 4th and 1 on the opening drive. Play it safe against this team and you guarantee yourself a loss. With our schedule and another season without any QB pressure whatsoever, I’m afraid we’re heading right into a 5-11 season at best. I hope I’m wrong.
