There Is A Way Out Of This Misery…

Although the easiest way to end the misery of being a Jets fan is probably solved with a bullet, (who it’s intended for is up to you) there are better ways.

It took me approximately 37 years of suffering to figure out how to get rid of all the stress involved with a losing season. Let me tell you that as hard as the remedy may appear to be accepted on the outside, once you try it, you’ll be amazed. My wife and oldest son think I was replaced by an imposter when they sit around and observe how I handle watching the game.

Now when you read this, read it with an open mind. I have long said that if you can’t either make the Playoffs or do well in the Playoffs you are better off losing to get better placement in the draft. Now I know many of you disagree with this, but hear me out. Let’s use the NY Knicks as an example. In 2003, the Knicks were horrible as usual and trying to somehow fight for that 8th and final playoff spot. Of course they fell short and finished picking 9th and got Michael Sweetney. Anyone happen to remember who went first? Yes, LeBron James followed by players like Carmello Anthony and Dwayne Wade. Now how many of you would trade a few more losses that season, a season that nobody remembers for any of those 3 players selected a few spots earlier in the 2003 NBA Draft?

Some of you will argue that the NFL Draft is a crap shoot and you don’t know what you’re getting. That could be very true, but it puts us in a great position to grab the best available player near the top of every single round. This team has way too many holes and since the owner doesn’t want to spend any money, we need picks in the draft to rebuild this team. If Mangini, assuming he is still around after this season, insists on sticking with the 3-4 Defense, he needs to upgrade his players. The Jets made no effort to keep pace with the Patriots in the off-season other than acquiring Thomas Jones. The Patriots had roughly the same amount of cap space and spent the money, fortifying an already strong team. The Jets saved their money and weakened the offensive line by letting Kendall go. Although I agree that letting Kendall go had to happen after he cried to the media, they should have never allowed it to reach that point by addressing the salary in the off season. If they didn’t want to pay him, then trade him earlier and get a replacement in camp.

So what’s the remedy? Simple, let Clemens play and get experience. We don’t have the players to compete this year for the Playoffs and if you don’t believe that, you are still looking at the Jets through green and white colored glasses. Look at the remaining schedule and tell me we can win 8 out of the next 12 games. If you think that, see my comment above on what color glasses you might be wearing. I’m not saying root for the Jets to lose. That might be too hard for the newer Jets fans that haven’t truly suffered yet. All I’m saying is to watch the game and let it play itself. Lower your expectations and when we don’t win, it won’t hurt nearly as much. Every time we miss a FG or throw an interception or allow a rookie QB to look like Joe Montana, take it in stride because it only makes us that much better next year and will feel that much better when we finally have a team that can compete and is worthy of representing us the fans.

I have suffered way too long and just getting by at 500 simply will not cut it anymore. If we can’t dominate, let’s take a step back and rebuild for next year. Try this system out now, before this team takes your soul away, you may have a few less grey hairs come draft time next year.

  1. As a JETS fans for 35 LONG, HARD YEARS! I am SOOOO TIRED of this happening, YEAR after YEAR, DECADE after DECADE…no matter who is the COACH!
ERIC MANGINI, the HONEY MOON is OVER!

I am SOOO TIRED of the USUAL JETS HEAD coach and players are ALWAYS saying, we will LEARN from this, we have to look at the TAPE and CORRECT our mistakes, I don’t understand, because we had a good week of PRACTICE. WE JETS fans are SOOOO TIRED of hearing that from ERIC MANGINI, and YEAR after year know matter WHO is the coach or player. ERIC also always says, that we had a GOOD week of PRACTICE. ERIC says it like I don’t understand why we LOST, becasue we had a good week of practice. Maybe ERIC MANGINI should find a way to play ALL of their SUNDAY games in PRACTICE! Just because you look GOOD in PRACTICE, or had a good week of PRACTICE ERIC, doesn’t mean you should have won the game. It is JUST PRACTICE Eric…you are not playing at FULL SPEED Eric…and the QUALITY of players you are going to face in a **(REAL GAME)** is NOT same as in PRACTICE ERIC! It DOESN’T matter how GREAT the PRATICES were ERIC, if you don’t WIN the game on SUNDAY! I DON’T want to hear how GREAT your PRACTICES were as an EXCUSE for LOSING the game on Sunday ERIC!
Their is ALWAYS an EXCUSE, like we have to be more
CONSISTENT. And you HEAR these SAME excuses game after game, YEAR after YEAR, DECADE after DECADE!
SO WHEN are the JETS actually going to STOP saying, we need to be more CONSISTENT…or we need to EXECUTE better, and ACTUALLY EXECUTE better? That is what you hear from EVERY JETS player and coach, YEAR after YEAR, game after game…we need to EXECUTE BETTER…we need to be MORE CONSISTENT. Whether it is VINNEY or CURTIS MARTIN or HERM EDWARD or ERIC MANGINI…it the SAME thing, YEAR after YEAR….we need to be more CONSISTENT…we need to EXECUTE better!

I ALREADY see the PATTERN that happened with HERM EDWARDS with the JETS. The JETS have trouble in the FIRST half of the season. **(EVERY YEAR)**, the first 3 or 4 games the DEFENSE have trouble. Or they ONLY make it to the PLAYOFFS when they have a
**(SOFT SCHEDULE)**…where they EVENTUALLY LOSE and get kicked out of the PLAYOFFS, because they REALLY are **(NOT that good)**. And when the JETS have a HARD SCHEDULE, then the JETS will have a LOSING season. That’s the PATTERN for this JETS organization…no matter who is COACH, or what players we have!

If this were HERM EDWARDS, the fans would have KILLED him! So it should be NO different for ERIC MANGINI! And I put this JETS loss against the BILLS on the coach ERIC MANGINI….as it should be, because the HEAD COACH is responsible for the team.

ERIC MANGINI said after the game…that some thing just wasn’t right in PRACTICE for the BILLS game(check the POST game Interviews for ERIC MANGINI). ERIC MANGINI, how DARE you say that you KNEW that something wasn’t right in your practices for the BILLS…but YOUR job as HEAD COACH for the JETS is make SURE the JETS are 100% ready to play on Sunday. ERIC MANGINI is telling us he knew something WASN’T right in practice for the BILLS, and he couldn’t fix what wasn’t right! This is UNACCEPTABLE as a head coach! Is MANGINI saying he knew something wasn’t RIGHT in practices, but he didn’t know what is was…or that he didn’t know how to FIX it! Either ONE of those things are ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE!!

Once again, if this were HERM EDWARDS, the fans would be killing HERM EDWARDS. The FANS and the MEDIA and the NEWS PAPERS, **(BETTER)** kill **(ERIC MANGINI)** for this ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE loss to a BILLS team that rank near **(LAST IN offense and defense)** in the NFL, with a ROOKIE starting QB…and with most of the BILLS team missing because of INJURES! ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE!

And ERIC MANGINI has to take the HIT for this LOSS.
It is ERIC MANGINI responsibility to have the JETS ready to play. And you also have to hold **(ERIC MANGINI)** responsible for BAD COACHING or PLAY calling of his DEFENSIVE and OFFENSIVE coaches. The HONEY MOON is OVER for ERIC MANGINI!

I see the SAME PATTERN with ERIC MANGINI already.
That is why I say as a JETS fan for 35 YEARS…like A LOT of JETS fans say…the JETS organization is CURSED! I REALLY mean that! If BILL BELICHICK or Jesus Christ were coaching or running the JETS, we would still find a way to lose, or never get to the SUPER BOWL. BILL PARCELL…as great a coach as BILL PARCELL was, he COULDN’T get the JETS into the SUPER BOWL…and like MOST of the JETS history, it was a TEASE…like Bill Parcell getting the JETS close to the SUPER BOWL that year, and then NOT making it. For my 35 years of watching the JETS and being a JETS FAN, they will only take you UP to a certain piont…and then get your hopes up…and then DROP you off the cliff. The JETS organization is CURSED!

  2. I have heard this before Ron and if you keep repeating it it may sink in . I just wanted to say
Coaching and game planning or the lack there of.
Mangini is a copy cat nothing more so far.

  3. Bottom line is that Chad has proven that he is not the guy who will get us to the “Promised Land”. Not only do we know that he has zero arm strength, but he is now making decisions that result in things we did not see in the past…e.g., bad judgement and more importantly, INT’s in the red zone, which for quite some time, he was known to be so accurate down there. I’m not one of those fans who roots for Chad to get injured, but Jets management will have to come to grips that they’ve made yet another bad decision to stick with a touch passer who does not physically have it within himself to either drill a pass to a receiver in a tight spot or go deep to keep the defense honest.

I mentioned to a friend of mine yesterday early in the game that if the Jets get to 1-6 or 1-7, that it would be time for Clemens to step in and be given a shot to show what he could do before next training camp, but by the time the end of the game rolled around, I had changed my tune calling for Clemens next week against a struggling Eagles team.

Mangini is doing what he could with what he has. Thus far, Revis has proven disappointing, especially as we see his Giants counterpart, Aaron Ross pick off and run back a Chad INT yesterday.

  4. Colt brennan

  5. Great work!

  6. I understand your thinking, but there have been teams on the bottom of the food chain for years getting high draft picks. Look at the Tampa Bay through the 70’s and 80’s, they got top draft picks almost every season. Yet, they still couldn’t do anything. It takes more than high draft picks to bring a team around. You need cohesion from top to bottom of a franchise. Guys have to be on the same page. One rotten piece of lettuce ruins the whole salad. Players have to belief in the coaches and belief that they can win! It’s much like electricity, you have to complete the circuit before anything works. Right now the Jets flip the switch, but the light doesn’t come on!
